How I Was Trafficked to Mali– Actress Jumoke George’s Daughter

By Charles Maduka

Adeola Omotoso, daughter of veteran Nollywood actress Jumoke George, has narrated how she was deceived and trafficked to Mali where she was forced into prostitution.

Her story came to light after she was recently reunited with her family. Adeola revealed that her journey began when a woman offered her an opportunity to work in a pharmacy in Mali. She accepted the offer without informing her relatives and traveled by road for four days through Cotonou, Togo, Ghana, and other countries before arriving in Bamako.

Upon arrival, Adeola was shocked to discover she had been sold. “The woman I met there said she bought me from my sister and that I would have to work as a prostitute to repay 1.5 million CFA francs,” she said.

Confused and afraid, Adeola resisted the demand. She pleaded to do another form of work, but the woman seized her phone and travel documents, leaving her stranded. She was taken to a brothel, but managed to escape after confiding in a kind-hearted man who helped her secure a job selling food.

“I told the woman I couldn’t do prostitution and that I would rather die. I was terrified. Later, I found help from a man who got me a job with a food vendor,” Adeola explained.

While working as a food seller, she encountered several Nigerian women who had died due to the harsh conditions of sex trafficking. She said she became determined to survive and save up money to return home.

“I didn’t want to return home empty. I couldn’t even call my mother or my kids because I was ashamed. I thought I’d die there and even told my roommate not to post my picture if I passed away,” she said emotionally.

Reflecting on her escape, Adeola expressed gratitude to God and her mother, believing divine intervention played a role in her survival.
