How Goodluck Jonathan Saved Nigeria – Shehu Sani

Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has pointed out four actions taken by the former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan during his administration that may never be repeated by any other president.

Shehu Sani in a post on his official X handle on Sunday while marking Jonathan’s birthday, recalled how the former president appointed a Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC whom he “never knew and never met”.

“There are four things ex-President Jonathan did that may not be repeated by any other President in the nearest future: APPOINTED an Inec chairman he never knew and never met”, he said.

Sani also pointed out that the former president, while in office, “approved the use of a data capturing system in the election that led to his eviction from power”.

Sani stated that Jonathan had during his administration, requested an “opposition candidate to nominate one INEC commissioner”.

According to the former lawmaker, Jonathan “disagreed with the outcome of an election but went ahead and congratulated the Winner for the sake of peace and unity in the country”.

“To the Doves, he is a man of peace, true nationalist and a patriot and to the Hawks, he was a timid compromiser. GEJ saved the country in its most critical and crucial moments”, he added.
