Gunmen Kidnap Yahaya Bello’s Aide in Okene

By Our Correspondent

Gunmen abducted Kabiru Onyene, a former aide to Kogi State’s immediate past governor, Yahaya Bello, during an attack on Monday evening in Okene.

The incident, which occurred around 7:05 pm, took place at a popular restaurant owned by Onyene, located near the late Ohinoyi of Ebiraland’s palace.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunfire and initially mistook it for festive fireworks. Chaos erupted as people fled the area, only to discover that Onyene had been taken by the attackers.

The assailants also reportedly shot an unidentified person during the attack, though the individual’s condition remains unclear.

The location of the abduction is notably close to a military checkpoint near the former governor’s residence.

Family sources revealed that the kidnappers have not yet made contact, while the state police spokesperson stated he was yet to receive details about the incident.
