Gunmen Kidnap FRSC Officer in Benue

Gunmen have abducted an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Benue State, Nathaniel Kumashe, the state command has confirmed.

FRSC spokesperson, Ngozi Ahula, disclosed the incident on Thursday in Makurdi, stating that Kumashe, who serves in Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area, was kidnapped around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to Ahula, the officer was taken from his residence in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor, shortly after attending his late cousin’s wake. The assailants fired warning shots to scare off his family and neighbors before abducting him.

In response, community youths launched a search operation, but the kidnappers had already fled. Personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also joined the efforts to locate him.

There are indications that Kumashe may have been taken to a hideout in Guma Local Government Area, a known hotspot for abductions. Security agencies are continuing their search to ensure his safe return.
