Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the National Park Service office in Oloka, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, leaving about five personnel feared dead.
The attack was said to have occurred at about 9pm on Tuesday, according to findings by The PUNCH. Unconfirmed reports indicated that the assailants stormed the facility and opened fire on officers on duty.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said unknown gunmen carried out the attack on officials of the National Park Service.
He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, alongside other security chiefs, was already on the way to the area to assess the situation and coordinate security efforts.
Ayanlade added that tactical teams, Mobile Police Force operatives and Explosive Ordnance Disposal units of the Nigeria Police Force have been deployed to the location to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The police said investigations have commenced, while more details are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
