Gunmen abduct over 50 women, children in Zamfara community

Over 50 women and children have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits during an attack on Kakin Dawa village in Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

A community member, who spoke anonymously to newsmen said that the gunmen stormed the village at about 1:30 am on Sunday with sophisticated weapons, moving house to house.

In his words, “Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village; later we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted.”

He pointed out that the kidnapped victims included young girls and married women.

He appealed to the federal and the Zamfara State governments to deploy more military and security personnel to the axis to engage the terrorists.

However, efforts to get the reaction of State police command spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar was not successful as of the time of filing this report.
