Gunmen have kidnapped Nelson Adepoyigi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifon Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident occurred on Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo expressway, close to the entrance of his farm. At the time of reporting, full details of the abduction were still unclear.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said a rescue operation had already commenced.

“We can confirm that the APC ward chairman was kidnapped at the entrance to his farm,” Ayanlade said. “The Divisional Police Officer in Ifon is working with local hunters, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Army to locate and rescue the victim.”

The police have appealed to members of the public for any information that could assist the ongoing operation and urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious movements in their areas.
