Gruesome Killings: Jegede Condemns Rising Insecurity in Ondo

Renowned legal luminary and former governorship candidate in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, has strongly condemned the recent gruesome killings allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the state.

He described the attack as barbaric and unacceptable, expressing deep concerns over the worsening security situation that continues to threaten lives and disrupt the peace of the state.

In a statement signed by Olusegun Adekayero for EYI media team, Jegede called on the Ondo State Government to step up security measures and strengthen the existing framework to curb the rising wave of violent crimes.

While acknowledging previous efforts to tackle insecurity, he stressed that more decisive actions were needed to ensure the safety of residents.

He also urged increased collaboration between security agencies, local vigilante groups, and community leaders to enhance intelligence gathering and improve response strategies.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria further implored the government to take a firm stance against criminal elements operating in the state.

He advocated for the deployment of more security personnel, the introduction of modern surveillance equipment, and the strict enforcement of laws to deter criminal activities.

Beyond security reinforcements, Jegede emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups in Ondo State.

He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to foster dialogue and promote mutual understanding to prevent violent conflicts.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, Jegede described their loss as painful and irreparable.

He prayed for divine strength for the affected families and urged humanitarian organisations, as well as well-meaning individuals, to support them in their time of grief.
