Governor Alia Dismisses Rumours About Leaving APC

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has said he is not planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), pushing back against claims that he is considering defection.

The report, which started circulating online, suggested that the governor was plotting to dump the APC due to issues within the party in Benue State.

However, Alia, through a statement released by his media office on Sunday, described the claim as untrue and misleading.

He insisted there is no crisis in the state chapter of the APC and maintained that he enjoys a good relationship with the party leadership in Benue.

The governor explained that the APC, led by Benjamin Omale in the state, is functioning well and has continued to work closely with his administration.

According to him, those behind the report only aim to cause confusion among members of the public and the party.

He said it would be strange for anyone to claim he is considering leaving the APC at a time when leaders from opposition parties are joining the ruling party, pointing to the current national leadership as the reason many are aligning with the APC.

Alia restated his commitment to the APC, saying he has no reason to leave a party he has worked hard to strengthen in Benue.

He also pointed to recent APC events, including a summit in Abuja, as proof that the party remains active and united both in the state and at the national level.
