Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC), bringing an end to the tenure of all commissioners in the state.
The governor made the announcement on Monday during the council’s meeting at the Government House, Minna.
Bago thanked the outgoing cabinet members for their service and contributions to the development of the state. He directed the commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to the permanent secretaries with immediate effect.
However, the governor clarified that the dissolution does not extend to all political appointees. According to him, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and other principal aides within his office will retain their positions.
The dissolution is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the governor to restructure his administration for greater efficiency and delivery of governance in the state.
