Gas Explosion Kills Mother, Daughter in Ogun

A gas explosion in the Ibafo area of Ogun State on Saturday claimed the lives of 40-year-old Rafiat Sheriff and her seven-year-old daughter, Asisat.

The incident occurred on Ebute Road when Rafiat asked Asisat to prepare dinner.

According to Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, “The incident happened (Saturday night) when the mother told her seven-year-old daughter to cook.

“The girl was attempting to light up the gas cylinder when the entire house went up in flames.”

Rafiat and Asisat lost their lives in the explosion. Two other girls, including one of Rafiat’s children, are currently being treated in the hospital.

    This is tragic and very pathetic,we may say that was not the first time she would cook,leaving a small child with such combustible material is too dangerous which the end result is the unfortunate incident that occurred
