Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed allegations linking him to militant activities in the state. He described viral social media posts and videos suggesting his involvement with militants as false and designed to create panic.
Fubara’s position was made public through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, who condemned the spread of fake videos allegedly showing explosions at oil and gas facilities in Rivers State. According to the statement, these claims are baseless, and communities reportedly affected by such incidents have confirmed that no such events occurred. The statement further reassured the public that key infrastructure in the state remains safe and fully functional.
The governor firmly denied any connections to militant groups, stressing that he has no interest in promoting actions that could harm the peace, security, or economy of the state. He emphasized that Rivers State can only achieve progress in an environment free of violence and instability.
Fubara also expressed concern about the ongoing political crisis in the state, warning against attempts by certain individuals to use the situation for selfish purposes. He criticized bloggers and social media influencers who share unverified information, cautioning that their actions could increase tension and disrupt peace.
He called on security agencies to investigate the spread of false reports and take necessary action against those responsible. His message to the public remains clear: peace and stability are essential for governance and development in Rivers State.
