Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, despite facing ongoing political challenges, has reaffirmed his commitment to leading the state toward unity and progress. Marking the second anniversary of his administration, the governor called on residents and political actors to move past recent tensions and join efforts to rebuild Rivers State.
In a statement titled “Our Journey: Challenging but Progressive and Impactful,” released on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support that brought him into office on May 29, 2023.
“Today marks two years since I was sworn in as the seventh democratically elected governor of Rivers State,” Fubara said. “I remain grateful for the trust and privilege to serve you.”
Reflecting on the period, he acknowledged significant political turbulence but emphasized his unwavering focus on the state’s interests. “Though we have faced setbacks, my pledge to prioritize Rivers State and its people remains steadfast,” he said.
Fubara highlighted key achievements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, and human capital development, noting these milestones as tangible progress made despite challenges.
He thanked citizens for their resilience and support, which he said fuels his determination to foster peace, reconciliation, and inclusive development.
Stressing unity as vital to the state’s future, Fubara assured that every policy decision will prioritize the welfare and prosperity of Rivers people.
Looking ahead, he conveyed optimism and a commitment to collaborate with all stakeholders to build a state that stands as a model of hope and advancement.
To those still burdened by political divisions, the governor extended an appeal for reconciliation. “Let us turn the page, come together, and focus on rebuilding our beloved state,” he urged.
