A former chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Isa Muhammad Wabi, was killed early Friday morning after being attacked in his home.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. at Fadaman Mada, near Government Girls’ Secondary School in Bauchi.
Police received a distress call from a resident who reported the violent attack.
Officers rushed to the scene and found Wabi, 66, severely injured from multiple stab wounds to the neck.
He was quickly taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where doctors later confirmed his death.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, two young men, known as Ahmad Abdulkadir (Abba) and Faruk Malami (Ajebo), were involved in the attack.
One suspect, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, possibly due to a counterattack, while Wabi’s son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, 24, has been taken into custody for questioning.
The police stated that Abdulgafar is helping investigators with useful details about the case.
Authorities have promised to carry out a full investigation to uncover what led to the deadly assault and ensure that everyone involved faces justice.
The Bauchi Police Command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to bring peace and safety back to the community following this tragic event.
