Flynas, one of the airlines approved by Saudi authorities to airlift Nigerian pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj, has successfully transported 6,228 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia within just one week, representing 50 percent of the total number allocated to the carrier.
This was made known by the airline’s Information Officer, Umma Salama Kyaure, in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
Kyaure revealed that the 6,228 pilgrims were flown to Madinah out of the 12,506 individuals assigned to Flynas by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for this year’s pilgrimage.
She noted that the airline has so far carried pilgrims from three of its four designated departure points in Nigeria—Kebbi, Sokoto, and Lagos—using a fleet of nine aircraft. Flynas was tasked with transporting pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states.
Providing a breakdown of the 15 flights completed, Kyaure explained that seven flights departed from Lagos, six from Kebbi, and two from Sokoto.
The total number of pilgrims flown from these locations included 2,131 from Lagos, Osun, and Ogun states; 2,561 from Kebbi; and 848 from Sokoto and Zamfara.
She further disclosed that the airlift of pilgrims from the FCT is scheduled to begin on May 17.
In his remarks, Umar Kaila, Managing Director of First Planet Travels and the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Flynas in Nigeria, assured pilgrims of top-quality service throughout the Hajj operation.
Kaila also extended his appreciation to NAHCON, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the pilgrims’ welfare boards and commissions of the seven states involved, for their support and for contributing to a smooth and successful operation.
