Fire guts UI female hostel

A section of a students’ hostel at the University of Ibadan, Queen Elizabeth Hall, has been gutted by fire which broke out in the early hours of Thursday.

It was gathered that the main cause of the fire incident had not been revealed as of the time of filing this report on Thursday.

Meanwhile, firefighters from the University Fire Service were immediately drafted to the scene of the incident to prevent further damages.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, Director of Public Relations in the institution, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, said that the office of the Hall Warden and the secretary were affected.

“Yes, it is true. The office of the Warden and the office of the Secretary of the Warden were affected.”

Queen Elizabeth Hall is the first female hall of residence in the institution.
