Fire Guts Ladipo Plank Market In Lagos

A devastating fire outbreak has gutted the popular Ladipo Plank Market along Orile Iganmu Road Amukoko, Lagos State.

The inferno has destroyed goods and property worth millions of Naira.

While the cause of the fire is yet to be announced, the state fire service officials have reportedly arrived at the scene in an attempt to stop the raging inferno.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police has taken fresh disciplinary action against one of its officers who fired gunshots to celebrate the reopening of Ladipo market in Lagos State.

It would be recalled that the man was captured in a viral online video, firing shots into the air to celebrate the reopening of the Ladipo market while onlookers cheered him on.

The Police, in reaction, promised to investigate the matter. Taking to the micro-blogging site a few days ago, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the man had been identified as Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, serving with the Mobile Police (MOPOL).

He added that the officer has been brought in to face appropriate disciplinary measures.

He also shared a picture of the officer and the viral video in question.

“The police officer in this video, Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, serving with the Mobile Police (MOPOL), has been brought in for appropriate disciplinary actions.

“@LagosPoliceNG condemns in its entirety all forms of unprofessional and unethical behaviour on the part of its officers and men; and will definitely bring to book anyone found culpable,” Hundeyin wrote.
