Fire guts Damaturu market

Shops and goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed in a late-night inferno that gutted parts of the popular Bayan Tasha Market in Damaturu.

Starnews NG learnt that the cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

However, it was gathered that the fire was brought under control through the combined efforts of firefighters and good Samaritans.

According to reports, no lives were lost, but unquantifiable goods and other belongings were destroyed.

One of the residents of Damaturu, Mustapha Mohammed Gujba, took to his Facebook page to write about the incident:

“Today, we have received news of a fire outbreak at the market behind the motor park in Damaturu town.

“To those affected by this incident, we pray that Allah grants you comfort and replaces what you have lost with something better.”
