Authorities in Finland have frozen the assets of Simon Ekpa, a notable pro-Biafra activist, over allegations related to terrorism.
Ekpa, who was arrested on 21 November alongside four others, is accused of spreading terrorist content on social media in 2021, specifically targeting Nigeria’s south-east region.
The Finnish district court of Päijät-Häme has declared Ekpa’s actions non-bailable, with his trial scheduled for May 2025.
Ekpa is presently being held at Kylmäkoski Prison, a facility established in 1993.
Finnish authorities have also extended the asset freeze to businesses associated with Ekpa and the other suspects.
The Nigerian government has repeatedly sought Ekpa’s extradition, citing his dual citizenship in both nations.
