FG Reduces Road Fares by 50% for Festive Season

The Federal Government has introduced a 50% discount on road transportation fares to ease travel costs for Nigerians during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

This initiative, aimed at making festive journeys more affordable, comes through a collaboration between the government and key transport unions.

The agreement, finalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, involves the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), the Association of Luxurious Bus Operators of Nigeria (ALBON), and major transport company God is Good Motors (GIGM).

This discount will cover travel routes from major hubs such as Abuja and Lagos to various destinations nationwide.

It adds to the government’s existing transportation support, which earlier included free train rides during the yuletide season.

The move is expected to ease the financial burden on travelers as they prepare to celebrate with family and friends across the country.
