The Federal Government and Edo State have teamed up to create a committee that will investigate the killing of 16 hunters in Uromi, a town in Esan North East Local Government Area.
The news was shared by Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo when he met with a delegation from Kano State led by Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo at the Government House in Benin City.
During the meeting, the Kano delegation handed over a report detailing the survivors, victims, and their families.
This was part of an effort by the Kano State government to gather information following the tragic event.
Okpebholo expressed that President Bola Tinubu was deeply troubled by the incident and was committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens across the country.
Okpebholo assured that both the President and the Edo State government were working together to find the causes of the killings and establish long-term solutions.
He stressed that the investigation would be transparent, and the public would be kept informed of the progress made by the committee.
Deputy Governor Gwarzo thanked Okpebholo for his earlier visit to Kano and expressed the importance of a fair and transparent process.
He also mentioned that the victims were from several local governments in Kano, and they were committed to ensuring justice was served.
