The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has responded to a recent claim that it is offering 10,000 job openings, saying the figure is false.
The commission made it clear that the number of vacancies is much lower, confirming that only 2,130 slots were made available during its last online recruitment exercise.
The clarification came on Tuesday from the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The statement, issued by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Taiwo Hassan, followed widespread reports on various media platforms suggesting that 10,000 jobs were up for grabs.
The FCSC described those reports as incorrect and misleading.
The recruitment exercise in question ended on March 17, and according to the FCSC, the process was concluded with only 2,130 positions to be filled.
The commission urged applicants and the public to rely only on information from official channels when seeking updates about civil service jobs.
It was also stated that those who made it through the first stage of recruitment have already been shortlisted.
They will be informed about the next step, which is the Computer-Based Test (CBT), through the FCSC website and other approved media outlets.
The commission warned against spreading unverified information and encouraged everyone interested in government jobs to always check the official website, www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng, for accurate updates.
