Falconets are Stranded in Turkey, Sleep in Turkish Airport

The Nigeria U20 Women’s national team, Falconets have spent over 24 hours in Istanbul, Turkey on their way to Nigeria from Costa Rica.

 

The team lost 0-2 to Netherlands in the quarterfinal of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica. The two times FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finalists left Costa Rica on Tuesday at 6:30am and were pictured sleeping on bare floor and chairs at the Istanbul Airport after staying at a spot for 24 hours.

 

The situation got worsen as they have no transit visa to enables them secure accomodation in Turkey. This ugly incident should have been averted if the federation had made arrangements with their partner, Air Peace to convey the team to Nigeria without facing such terrible experience.

 

Falconets won all the three group C matches to earn maximum 9 points but their superb performance was put to a halt at the quarter final when Netherlands beat them 2-0.
