Explosion Rocks Zamfara as Bandits Kill 12 in Fresh Attack

By Bayero Ade

Suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on Yar Tasha village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing 12 people in an explosion on Wednesday, December 4.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. when a commercial vehicle carrying passengers ran over an explosive device allegedly planted by the bandits. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the driver, operating an 18-seater bus, died instantly, along with several passengers.

Residents revealed that this was the second time in a week that bandits had planted explosive devices along the same road. A similar device was reportedly discovered last Sunday, sparking concerns about the safety of the area.

“We recently worked on the road, and it seems the bandits took advantage of that to plant the device at one of the spots,” a local resident said anonymously. “The victims were taken to Dansadau General Hospital, but we are yet to confirm their condition.”

In response to the attack, security operatives, including soldiers and police, were deployed to the area to secure the scene and prevent further violence.

This latest incident highlights the ongoing insecurity in Zamfara State, where communities continue to face relentless attacks from bandits.
