Explosion at Niger mining site leaves Four dead, several injured

About four lives have been lost and several others injured in an explosion at a mining site in Sabon Pegi, within the Mashegun Local Government Area of Niger State.

While the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, residents of Sabon Pegi have speculated that improper handling of explosives by mining companies may have contributed to the incident.

Dailypost reports that the blast occurred on Sunday morning as miners were resuming their work at the site.

Community sources report that four bodies have been recovered from the blast site, though the full extent of the casualties remains unclear, and additional victims are feared.

The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities are yet to make formal comments on the matter.
