EPL: Why Arsenal beat Man Utd 1-0 – Gary Neville

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has attributed Arsenal’s narrow 1-0 victory over the Red Devils on Sunday to the Gunners’ defensive resilience and the brilliance of their goalkeeper, David Raya.

Arsenal secured all three points at Old Trafford thanks to Riccardo Calafiori’s 13th-minute strike, which ultimately separated both sides in a tense Premier League encounter.

Despite United’s efforts to claw their way back into the game, Mikel Arteta’s men stood firm at the back, with Raya pulling off several crucial saves to deny the hosts. The Spanish shot-stopper’s performance earned him the Man of the Match award, as Arsenal also recorded their first clean sheet of the season.

Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports after the match, Neville praised Arsenal’s defensive organisation, noting that their ability to withstand pressure was the decisive factor.

“Arsenal really dug in. They showed a lot of resilience,” Neville said.
“We know how good they are defensively. The goalkeeper made some really good saves and the back four got better as the game went on. Arsenal were never at their best but to come to Manchester, whether it is Old Trafford or Manchester City’s ground, it’s always tough.”

The victory sees Arsenal continue their strong start to the campaign as they look to mount another Premier League title challenge.
