The Enugu State Government has prohibited the posting of posters on outdoor surfaces without official approval, warning that violators will be fined up to N50 million.
Frank Aninwike, the General Manager of the Enugu State Structures for Signages and Advertisement Agency (ENSSAA), made this known in a statement issued on Thursday in Enugu.
According to Aninwike, it is illegal to paste or display posters on any public or private structure without first securing written permission from the agency.
“This announcement is directed at political parties, religious institutions, educational establishments, advertisers, marketers, printers, and the general public. No individual or organization is permitted to post or display any material on buildings, walls, highways, or other outdoor spaces within Enugu State without obtaining prior approval from ENSSAA,” he stated.
He highlighted that failure to comply with this directive constitutes a violation of Sections 4(1g), 33, and 34(4,9) of the ENSSAA Law, 2016, which authorizes the agency to regulate poster placements and maintain the state’s environmental aesthetics.
“Anyone found pasting or displaying posters without prior authorization from ENSSAA will be subject to a fine of up to N50 million,” he warned.
Aninwike urged all concerned parties to adhere to the directive, emphasizing that the agency would no longer condone the defacement of public and private spaces in the state.
