A member of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, Mr. Wale Ade-Oba, has resigned his appointment, citing what he described as poor performance by Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration, despite huge budgetary allocations.
Ade-Oba, in a statement made available to newsmen, said he could no longer continue to work under an administration he accused of lacking direction and underdelivering on governance. He announced his decision to pitch his tent with the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Engr. Kayode Ojo, who he described as a visionary leader with the capacity to reposition Ekiti State.
In a strongly worded statement, Ade-Oba criticised Governor Oyebanji’s frequent absence from the state and what he termed “unclear agenda,” which he said had crippled productivity and hindered development across the state.
The statement read in part: “I am writing to share with you a decision that may surprise many. As you know, I’ve been serving as an appointee under the current administration led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji. However, after much reflection, I have decided to join forces with Engr. Kayode Ojo, a leader with a vision for a better Ekiti.”
He lamented that several local government areas, including his own Irepodun/Ifelodun, had not felt the impact of the current administration.
According to him, “Our party members are being overlooked and undervalued despite their hard work and dedication to the party’s success. Instead, opposition party members who did not contribute to our victory are being appointed to key positions, while our loyal supporters are being ignored.”
Ade-Oba further alleged that the governor had failed to justify the confidence reposed in him by party loyalists and the electorate, insisting that Oyebanji’s style of leadership lacked the vigour and focus required to deliver on meaningful development.
He continued: “The governor is often out of the state, pursuing unclear agendas, and this absence is felt in the lack of productivity under the present administration. I believe it’s time for a change.”
On his decision to support Kayode Ojo, Ade-Oba stated: “Engr. Kayode Ojo’s leadership style and vision for Ekiti resonate with me. I believe his administration would prioritise the needs of our people, recognise the efforts of our party members, and drive development across all local government areas.”
He concluded by urging other stakeholders in the state to rally behind Ojo for what he described as a new dawn for Ekiti.
“I am making this change because I want to be part of a government that truly serves the people of Ekiti and values the contributions of its loyal supporters. I’m willing to work towards a brighter future for our state, and I invite you all to join me on this journey,” he added.
