Eight Kidnapped As Bandits Attack Kano Communities Despite Early Warning

At least eight persons have been kidnapped after armed bandits invaded Biresawa village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, despite residents notifying security operatives ahead of the attack.

The attackers reportedly struck between 11pm and midnight on Monday, according to multiple sources cited by Daily Trust.
A resident said the bandits abducted two men and six women, and their whereabouts remain unknown.

One of the victims’ relatives, Kabiru Usman, confirmed that the gunmen entered the community on foot through neighbouring Tsundu village.
“They came on foot, armed with guns. They kidnapped my wife, Umma; my 17-year-old daughter, Fati; my brother’s wife, and two other women,”
he said.

Usman added that villagers had earlier warned both the police and military after receiving credible intelligence that the bandits were heading toward their communities.
“We notified the security agencies because they gave us their contact numbers. But before any help came, they arrived and attacked,”
he said.
Sources also reported coordinated attacks on Sarmawa, Yan Chibi and Gano villages in the same LGA.

A resident of Yan Chibi said about 50 bandits on motorcycles stormed the community while shooting into the air, forcing residents to flee.
“They abducted some people, mostly women. We later learnt they also hit other communities. I can confirm over 10 people have been taken,”
he said.

Local vigilantes pursued the attackers but were unable to continue once the gunmen crossed into Katsina State.
Communities in the area say they have been living in fear as bandit activities spill over from neighbouring Shanono and Bagwai LGAs, with many residents now abandoning their homes at night.
