Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a raid on the headquarters of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in Abuja on Tuesday, in connection with allegations of fraud and financial mismanagement.

According to Vanguard, the operation, which took place at approximately 11 a.m., led to the detention of NAHCON spokesperson Fatimah Usara, along with three other unidentified staff members. The EFCC officials arrived with a valid arrest warrant, signaling the gravity of the investigation.

The raid is part of an ongoing probe into the alleged misappropriation of a N90 billion intervention fund earmarked for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.

An EFCC source confirmed the development to Vanguard, underscoring the seriousness of the claims against NAHCON.

This action by the EFCC follows a previous raid by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on NAHCON, further intensifying the scrutiny of the commission’s financial practices.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to comment on the matter but assured that further details regarding the arrests and investigation would be shared in the near future.
