Popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed that she was recently interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with the spraying of money during her daughter’s wedding ceremony.
In a post shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the actress—also known as the Queen Mother—disclosed that the EFCC contacted her while she was abroad, and she honored the invitation upon her return to Nigeria. She visited the agency’s office on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Ojo said the questioning involved details about her personal life, professional background, and business affiliations. However, the main focus was on the events at her daughter’s wedding, which was held last month.
“I received an invitation from the EFCC while I was in the UK. After I returned, I reported to their office on May 5, where I answered questions regarding my personal life and career,” she stated.
The actress noted that officials showed her video footage from the wedding, which captured guests spraying both local and foreign currencies. She admitted she knew damaging the naira was a crime but was unaware that spraying any form of currency, including dollars, was also against the law.
“I saw clips of the event where people were spraying money. I had no idea that doing the same with foreign currencies was also prohibited,” she explained.
Ojo said she was informed that spraying money, particularly on individuals, contravenes financial regulations. She then advised Nigerians to avoid the practice at social gatherings to prevent facing legal consequences.
Her daughter, Priscilla, recently tied the knot with Tanzanian music star Juma Jux in a wedding that attracted wide public attention.
