The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has provided fresh details on its ongoing investigation into the Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) fraud.
The agency shared an update on Wednesday, stating that it is making headway in its efforts to find those declared wanted for their roles in the alleged scheme.
According to the commission, Ellie Bitar, who was previously listed among the suspects, is no longer considered wanted.
His name was removed after new findings showed he should not be included in the list. Bitar is linked to CBEX Solutions Ltd., a company tied to the fraud case.
The EFCC did not reveal the specific details behind the decision to clear him but said the development followed a review of fresh evidence.
The EFCC confirmed that eight other individuals are still being sought in connection with the case.
These include Seyi Oloyede, Emmanuel Uko, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun, Johnson Okiroh Ofienolu, Israel Mbalika, Joseph Michiro Kabera, and Serah Michiro. All of them remain on the wanted list.
The agency said it is not working alone. Law enforcement agencies from other countries are helping in the search and efforts to arrest those involved.
The EFCC assured the public that it is determined to track down everyone connected to the fraudulent activities surrounding CBEX and will continue to push until all suspects are held accountable.
