Don’t heat up polity, Lagos Asesembly warns impeached Speaker Obasa
The Lagos State House of Assembly has cautioned its ousted Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, to refrain from actions that could disrupt the legislative process.
This warning came after Obasa, upon his return from the United States, claimed that his removal did not follow proper procedures, Punch reports.
In a statement released on Saturday, the assembly reaffirmed its support for the newly elected Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, and its decision to remove Obasa on January 13.
The lawmakers reiterated that over two-thirds of the assembly members backed the new Speaker and stood by their impeachment decision.
The statement condemned Obasa’s actions as inappropriate, urging him to adopt a peaceful approach for the state’s well-being.
The assembly also emphasized that any attempts to create unrest would be met with resistance from the majority.
The lawmakers pledged to uphold peace and protect the integrity of the assembly.
Obasa’s removal followed accusations of misconduct and mismanagement.
