A fresh crisis is brewing within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State following the sudden resignation of its Director of Media and Publicity, Leye Igbabo.
In a strongly worded letter addressed to the State Chairman of the party, Igbabo cited what he described as “hostility, deceit, compromise, and gross indiscipline” within the party’s secretariat as the reasons for his exit.
“It is disheartening to know that the Secretariat has become hostile to effective and efficient performance of my duties,” the letter read. “There is no more sincerity of purpose and under such circumstances, I do not want to be labeled as an incompetent official.
Staying in such an unproductive environment amounts to a precious waste of time and energy. I therefore resign with immediate effect.”
His resignation, which takes immediate effect, has triggered speculations about deepening cracks within the state chapter of the PDP, especially as the party prepares ahead of the coming governorship election.
Party insiders told Sunshine Truth that the development may further polarize the PDP, which has been struggling to maintain cohesion amid internal wranglings.
Efforts to get official comments from the state PDP leadership proved abortive as calls placed to party officials were not returned as at press time.
