Following his admission of guilt to charges of trespassing and theft, Victor Martins, a 47-year-old trader, was sentenced to three months in prison without the option of a fine by the court on Friday.
Magistrate Tapmwa Gotep handed down the verdict after considering Martin’s plea.
She said the judgment would serve as a deterrent to those wanting to indulge in such acts.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Daniel Longwal, told the court that the case was reported on February 23 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station by Mongai Obi.
Longwal said that the convict trespassed into the school and stole books belonging to the students before he was caught.
He said that offence is punishable under the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
