A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a temporary order stopping lawyer Dele Farotimi from distributing or selling his book Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
The restriction, covering both physical and digital formats, extends to his agents and major book retailers, including Amazon, Rovingheights, and others.
Justice Peter Kekemeke granted the order after an application by Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN) of the Afe Babalola law firm.
Security agencies, including the Nigerian Police, SSS, and NSCDC, have been tasked with removing copies of the book from stores and online platforms.
They are required to confirm their actions within 72 hours.
The case stems from allegations of defamation, though specific claims have not been detailed.
The interim order will remain until the court considers a motion for further restrictions on January 7, 2025.
Similarly, the Oyo State High Court has issued a similar injunction, also scheduling a hearing on the same date.
