The All Progressive Congress (APC) might create a fresh crisis for itself, over an alleged plans by the state leadership of the party not to conduct primary elections for all the chairmanship aspirants across the 18 local governments of Ondo State, Starnews NG can report.

The ruling party is set to conduct local government election in April 18, 2020.

However, some leaders of the party told Starnews NG correspondent that the APC leadership in the state will not hold primary elections for all the 101 chairmanship aspirants slated for February 3, 2020.

They alleged that Mr. Ade-Adetimehin led screening committee will be announcing the list of consensus candidates on the said date instead of conducting primary election for the said aspirants.

They claimed that was the reason the screening result for all the aspirants was delayed and scheduled to be released on February 3, 2020, the same date the primary election is supposed to hold.

Starnews NG investigation reveals that the efforts by the state leadership of the party to persuade some aspirants to avoid crisis as they planned to settle for consensus candidates on the said date did not yield results.

Some of the aspirants said the party shouldn’t have sold expression of interest forms when they know they will not conduct primary election.
