Confusion and shock have enveloped the Okitipupa community in Ondo State following the tragic death of a young man identified simply as Michael, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his teenage girlfriend, Timahul, during a dispute over suspected infidelity.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday at the victim’s residence in Okitipupa.
Eyewitnesses say the lovers got into a heated argument after the suspect confronted Michael over his alleged relationship with another woman. The confrontation soon escalated into a fight, during which the suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
“He was bleeding heavily, and before help could come, he had already died,” said a neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The incident has thrown the entire neighbourhood into mourning, with many residents expressing disbelief over the tragic turn of events.
As of press time, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Police sources say investigations are ongoing, and more details are expected in the coming days.
