Ooye Development Initiatives, (ODI) a socio-cultural group of Akure, Ondo State capital sons and daughters, has urged the people of Akure not to mourn the death of a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Adedayo Omolafe, but to continue to celebrate his legacy.
Until his sudden death on August 16, 2021, Omolafe, a member of the ODI who was popularly known as Expensive, represented Akure North and South in the lower chamber of National Assembly in Abuja.
In a condolence message signed by the President of the group, Mr. Sunday Falae, ODI described Omolafe\s death as a monumental loss to the people of the capital of the state.

“Hon Omolafe was a great son of Akure who impacted the lives of so many people. He was a philanthropist, a humanist and selfless politician whose grassroots links were unbeatable. A political colossus of immense significance to the teaming people of Akure, we are greatly pained by the demise of this great son of ours,” he said.
ODI said that the massive expression of loss demonstrated by the people of Akure and all over the world over his death, as well as the general sense of empathy at his departure show that Hon Omolafe had carved an indelible place for himself in the hearts of the generality of his people.
“The only lesson all sons and daughters of Akure can draw from Expensive’s exit is that it pays to be good. He was very good to everyone and lived his life among the people. He was selfless and didn’t joke with the development of his people. What we should do in his memory is to continue from where he stopped,” Falae added.
