BREAKING: Tight Security as Yahaya Bello Appears in Court

By Bayero Ade

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja is under heavy security as former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, attends his arraignment today.

Armed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have secured strategic locations around the court premises, ensuring restricted access and orderly proceedings.

Bello, dressed in a white Babanriga and radiating confidence, arrived at the courtroom to cheers of “Saaki” from his supporters and political allies.

The former governor surrendered himself to the EFCC on Tuesday, accompanied by three of his legal representatives, following his declaration as wanted by the anti-graft agency in April 2024.

Bello faces allegations of mismanaging N110 billion, as charged by the EFCC. The commission previously filed 19 counts of money laundering against him and his nephews, Ali Bello, Dauda Suliman, and Abdulsalam Hudu, involving over N80 billion.

Today’s arraignment marks a significant development, as prior attempts to bring Bello before the court had been unsuccessful.
