By Our Correspondent

Senator Abdul Ningi, the federal lawmaker from Bauchi State, has officially stepped down as the chairman of the Northern Senators Forum.

This decision comes on the heels of his suspension from the Red Chamber following allegations of budget padding.

Senator Ningi claimed that the 2024 budget was inflated by an additional N3.7 trillion, with no clear indication of where these funds were allocated.

The Senate, in response, suspended him for three months, citing a lack of evidence to support his allegations.

In his resignation letter, Ningi stated, “I will like to resign my position as the chairman of the Northern Senators Forum. This is of course necessitated by unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North, and the Nation at large.”

Despite the Senate’s stance that there is no proof of budget padding, Ningi remained steadfast in his allegations.
