By: Bayero Ade

On Monday, legal counsel for the Chairman of the Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko, raised objections at the Federal High Court in Lagos regarding fraud allegations involving N12.3 billion.

According Politics Nigeria, the lawyer, Mr. Bode Olanipekun (SAN), argued that the charges had not been formally delivered to Otudeko or the two other individuals implicated in the case. Representing all three defendants, Olanipekun emphasized the importance of proper legal procedures in the matter.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a 13-count charge against Otudeko, former First Bank Managing Director Olabisi Onasanya, and a former Honeywell board member, Soji Akintayo. Anchorage Leisure Ltd, a company linked to the allegations, was also named as a co-defendant.

The EFCC claims that the accused parties fraudulently obtained the sum under false pretenses.

Further developments in the case are anticipated as court proceedings continue.
