BREAKING: Justin Trudeau Announces Resignation as Prime Minister of Canada

In a surprising turn of events, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has declared his intention to resign from his position, with plans to vacate office following the selection of a new leader for the ruling party.

He stated that Canada’s Parliament will be adjourned until March 24 while the process of choosing a new leader takes place.

Trudeau, who has been the Liberal Party leader for over a decade and served as Prime Minister for nine years, has been grappling with numerous challenges, including trade tensions stemming from Donald Trump’s tariff threats, the departure of significant allies, and troubling approval ratings.

“Parliament has been stagnant for several months, marking the longest session of a minority parliament in Canadian history,” he noted.

“This morning, I communicated with the Governor General about the necessity for a new parliamentary session. She has approved this request, and as such, the House will be prorogued until March 24.”

Trudeau Reflects on His Tenure, Shares “One Regret” Upon Resignation Announcement

As he prepares to step down, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed that he has “one regret” regarding his time in office—specifically, the electoral process in Canada.

“If I have one regret, especially as we near this election—though there may be many that come to mind—I truly wish we could have altered the way we elect our governments to allow citizens to select a second or third choice on the same ballot,” Trudeau remarked.
