BREAKING: FG unveils portal for national youth confab

The Federal Government has officially launched a digital portal for the upcoming Nigeria Youth Conference, popularly known as the National Youth Confab, as part of efforts to engage young Nigerians in shaping national policy and development strategies.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayode Olawande, made the announcement on Monday, emphasizing that the conference represents more than just a formal gathering.

He described it as a “generational shift,” “a nationwide movement,” and “an urgent call to action” for Nigerian youth.

President Bola Tinubu had initially introduced the idea of a 30-day youth-focused conference during his Independence Day address on October 1, 2024.

The event is scheduled to hold in February 2025.

Although the idea was first made public in October, the President formally inaugurated a 44-member planning committee on March 10, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to oversee preparations for the conference.

Unveiling the theme of the Confab, “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” Olawande said the event would be youth-led, inclusive, and devoid of partisan interests.

He added that the portal would serve as an interactive platform for registration, contribution of ideas, and real-time updates throughout the duration of the conference.

He further explained that the Confab will adopt a multi-tiered approach, beginning with consultations with youth representatives across the 360 federal constituencies, input from Nigerians in the diaspora, zonal deliberations across six states, and concluding with a final national conference in Abuja to consolidate all contributions.
