BREAKING: American Cleric Robert Prevost Elected Pope, Assumes Name Leo XIV

The Vatican has officially confirmed the election of Robert Francis Prevost as the next pope, making him the first American to hold the position in the history of the Roman Catholic Church.

Prevost, a longtime missionary in Peru and a close associate of the late Pope Francis, will now serve as the 267th pope under the title Pope Leo XIV.
