Blogger Arrested for Creating Fake DSS Recruitment Website

A 32-year-old blogger from Akwa Ibom State, Augustus, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday for cloning the agency’s official website and promoting a false recruitment exercise.

The suspect was apprehended at his home on Akpan Eno Lane, Abak.

The DSS discovered that Augustus, a graduate of the University of Uyo and a content creator, created the fake website to mislead Nigerians, Punch reports.

The fraudulent site included a recruitment notice designed to lure unsuspecting individuals.

Following investigations, the agency confirmed the recruitment notice was a scam and issued a public warning to avoid falling victim to such schemes.

Augustus is set to face charges in court for his alleged actions.

The DSS continues to caution the public against engaging with unofficial sources or websites claiming to represent the agency.
