Residents in parts of Nigeria’s North-East are expected to face a major power disruption from Monday, June 10, to Friday, June 14, 2025, due to construction work being carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The blackout will affect several towns and states as engineers shut down key transmission lines to allow work on new power infrastructure.
TCN notified electricity distribution companies in the region that it will temporarily switch off the Jos–Gombe single circuit line for the safe installation of towers at a new 330kV substation in Bauchi.
This will cut off electricity to areas like Damaturu, Molai, Yola, and Jalingo.
Although some locations such as Biu and Gombe will still get supply from the Dadin Kowa hydropower station, they will not receive full power.
According to internal communication from TCN’s Bauchi regional office, the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 132kV line will also be briefly out on June 14.
Baga Road substation in Maiduguri will be powered through a different route known as MEPP, while places like Nguru and Machina will rely on the 33kV Nguru feeder for electricity.
