A bill for the establishment of Federal School of Basic Studies, Ileoluji, Ondo State, has been read the first time on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday.
Starnews Nigeria reports that the Sponsor of the bill, Nicholas Tofowomo, the Senator representing Ondo South at the National Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said that the proposed school would strengthen civil society and provide policy-relevant research that would address the challenges of contemporary society.
Tofowomo who also sponsored Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act 2007(Amendment Bill 2020) on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, has also said that more bills that would transform the society and impact Nigerians are in pipeline.
The Senator who recently sponsored a motion on the urgent need to compel all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to subscribe to e-validation of results portal so that employers and relevant organisations within and outside Nigeria can verify the results of Nigerian graduates has also called on the Senate to wake up and be alive to its responsibilities of checks and balances following the high rate of insecurity in the country.

Tofowomo said Nigeria is gradually becoming a failed state while contributing to a motion on Tuesday over the abduction of students of Government Science School, Kankara, Katsina State, and the high level of insecurity in every part of the country.
The Ondo South Senator advised the leadership of the Senate to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the poor security embarrassment in Nigeria.
