Benue Governor Suspends Aide After EFCC Arrest Over Sextortion

The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has removed his Special Adviser on Documentation, Research and Planning, Mkor Aondona, from office after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested him over alleged sextortion and blackmail.

The governor took this decision after the EFCC confirmed the arrest of Aondona in Makurdi following complaints from female students. The petitioners claimed that Aondona offered ushering jobs to young women but made sexual demands as a condition. They also accused him of secretly recording explicit videos during these encounters and spreading the clips without their permission.

A statement released by the governor’s office on Sunday announced the indefinite suspension, saying the affected aide must now face the legal process and respond to the allegations against him. The statement also made it clear that anyone involved in criminal or unethical acts in the current administration will not be protected.

Authorities added that the state government remains committed to working with law enforcement to ensure all victims, especially women and vulnerable groups, get justice.

The EFCC confirmed that Aondona will be charged to court soon.
