The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has praised the three PDP senators from Osun State for endorsing President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections but urged them to take a bolder step by joining the APC.
Speaking through the Senator Ajibola Basiru Campaign Organisation, Basiru commended Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East), Lere Oyewumi (Osun West), and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central) for publicly backing Tinubu. The campaign’s statement, signed by Professor Remi Ajala, highlighted the significance of their endorsement.
According to the statement, the lawmakers’ recognition of Tinubu’s efforts in infrastructure, economic reforms, food security, and national security is proof of progress under the current administration.
“The acknowledgment by these senators shows President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is making an impact across their districts. This honesty and sense of statesmanship should be encouraged,” it stated.
Basiru, however, argued that support from a distance is not enough. He called on the lawmakers to solidify their endorsement by fully aligning with the APC, both at the state and national levels.
“True commitment goes beyond verbal support. These senators should officially join the APC to help usher in a new era of development in Osun, especially when the APC takes over governance in 2026,” he said.
He criticized the current PDP-led administration in Osun under Governor Ademola Adeleke, labeling it as underperforming and deceptive. Basiru maintained that stronger ties with the APC would benefit key sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture.
Urging the senators to act decisively, Basiru said their move would show real leadership.
“This is the time to act. They should emulate other lawmakers who have already joined the APC and take a stand for the progress of Osun State and the country,” he concluded.
